MARKET STORIES: Meet Justin

We met with Justin to talk about his experience selling at our markets. Justin is a stylist and collector. He owns a great collection of second-hand designer garments that he shared with us.

DKM: What brings you to the market edition of De KLOFFIE Markt today?

Justin: I am selling at the market event of De KLOFFIE Markt because I think the aspect of durability of clothing is really important, because these clothes last for a lifetime. The clothes I sell are made by great designers, so they are timeless. You spend a little bit more but you get more out of your clothing. Items from high street like Zara or Asos only last about 5 years in our closets. The designer clothing lasts about 30 years. That’s the main and best part of vintage designer clothing.

DKM: What’s your favorite piece that you have sold at De KLOFFIE Markt?

Justin: I have sold a lot but the key pieces that always draw attention have to be pieces for example from Fendi, Burberry which always sells and everything from Galliano for Dior. It draws attention, the logo is great and it’s a great era; a better era than Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior right now. So people really see that, they respect the history of items. And items from the 90s like Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garcons always draw attention. It’s a great investment, it never goes down in value, the value only goes up. So spend a little more and you get more for your money.

And a few weeks later we were on a Vogue Netherlands shoot together because he did styling for Vogue with my stuff. So that’s great!

DKM: Do you have a specific story that you have experienced selling here?

Justin: I met a great seller here. His name is Pieter, we stood next to each other. He got to know about my pieces and it turns out we knew the same people, like the 6 degrees of separation. It’s a small world. DKM: Do you have any other piece you would like to show?

Justin: Yes I very much love the J’Adore Dior jacket. It’s very iconic, very Paris Hilton zero’s style. Always love the Dior monogram blouse. Fendi from the 90s is always good too. Nicky Minaj and others brought it back to style, as it was out of style. I knew it because I had the sneakers when I was little. About 3 years ago you couldn’t even wear it, but it came back in style.
