DKM STREET STYLE: Aron

“Most of the times I am trying to combine tech-looking garments with a professional kind-of look.”

Aron, 2 November 2019, Amsterdam

Can you describe your style?

A: It’s very difficult to explain it. I like techwear, but I am also into more casual. Most of the times I am trying to combine tech-looking garments with a professional kind-of look.

Can you describe your relation with fashion?

A: Fashion, for me, constitutes a way of expressing yourself, but also expressing your vision on the world. There are some people that tend to look only at Off-White and the hype stuff, but most garments are far more interesting – where they come from and how long they have been in the cycle. That’s why something like De KLOFFIE Markt is great, because you can sell garments you don’t want to wear anymore for a decent price. It is beneficial for both the buyer and the seller. And in this way you can keep the circulation going in the market.

Why are you at De KLOFFIE Markt?

A: Honestly, I started going to De KLOFFIE Markt a long time ago with my friends, to see what we can find and look for older garments, which you cannot buy anymore in retail. But now, it became more of a social event for me. I am always coming here with friends, but everytime I come I meet and talk to new people. Also it is nice to have direct communication with vendors (sellers) to hear more about the pieces they offer.

Why do you buy second-hand or slow fashion labels?

A: I buy second-hand, because it is cheaper. I am Dutch and every Dutch person cares about money. As I said before, it is a shame to buy a sweater or t-shirt or whatnot from brands like COS or ZARA if you can buy vintage or designer piece for pretty much same price. And I feel like those pieces you can find here at De Kloffie Markt are much better quality and you don’t support fast fashion this way. I think it’s a really important nowadays to keep the world going in environmental sense and we can do so by choosing slow-fashion.
