Adrian, 1 February 2020, Amsterdam
The twenty-year-old Adrian is originally from Maastricht and he now lives in Amsterdam.
What are you wearing?
A: I am wearing Dr. Martens, Burberry jacket and pants from my dad, vintage Woolrich sweater, Vivienne Westwood necklace, Patta longsleeve polo shirt and Eastpak fanny pack.
“Sometimes I like to dress up and sometimes I like to dress down. That really depends on the day and what I am going to do.”
Describe your style?
A: I think my style is really inspired by my dad. I like the old-school vibe, just classy, but I also like to be comfy, like wearing a hoodie. Some jeans are also always nice. I think it is whatever I am feeling. Sometimes I like to dress up and sometimes I like to dress down. That really depends on the day and what I am going to do.
What is your relation with fashion?
A: I always loved fashion. My parents are not that into fashion, but they do dress well and they passed it down to me. I like expressing myself through my clothes. If people can spot that I am into clothes, then they can maybe relate to me.
What brings you to De Kloffie Markt?
A: It is actually my first time here. I saw an Instagram post a few weeks ago and heard that there is this event happening, so I came down and wanted to look around. I enjoy it, because I love vintage. I go to every vintage store. I am not even here to necessarily buy something, but if I will find something then I might buy it.
“When I go back home to my parents, I go through my parent’s closet to reuse their clothes, just because I know they are not using them anymore.”
Why do you buy vintage, second-hand or slow fashion labels?
A: Financially, it is just a lot cheaper. It is also much more sustainable. I am not that big into climate change or an activist, but it is in my mind that it is just better. When I go back home to my parents, I go through my parent’s closet to reuse their clothes, just because I know they are not using them anymore.
What is the most desirable vintage you would like to own?
A: I would really like to get the Dior boots designed by Hedi Slimane, but it is not financially possible to buy them right now.
Did something catch your attention on this market?
